Work/Life Balance?

It seems one of the big challenges facing professionals today is work/life balance. Very often the lines between work and personal lives are blurred. And in some severe cases, this can affect people's romantic relationships. Reports show that, instead of whispering sweet nothings into their partners ear, professionals now whisper completed items on their to do lists...how romantic.

Writers Guild Strike

With the Writers Guild of America now on strike, Hollywood is concerned that negotiations will not be resolved in time for film and television shows to go back into production for the new year.

Some producers have proposed to create more reality television shows to fill the temporary gap.

Unfortunately, said producers are not as creative as the writers, and their ideas for reality tv shows seem to be falling a bit short.

Here some of the ideas for reality shows they have come up with:
  • Survivor: Spearfish, South Dakota
  • American Information Technology Idol
  • Iraq's Got Talent
  • Extreme Corporate Takeover
  • America's Next Top Yodel
  • Dancing with John Malkovich
  • Trading Parking Spaces
  • The Simple Life: Minimum Security Prison
  • Booty and the Greek
  • The Surreal Life: Salvador Dali Edition
  • Who Wants to Be Famous At Any Cost?
  • Let's Set Up a Bunch of Cameras and Watch You Argue
In a related story, The O'Shea Report is producing a reality TV show based on "Kid Nation," where we look at what happens when the kids are gone: "Adult Nation." Click here to see a preview.

Professionals now have free time!

Professionals today are learning to streamline their responsibilities so they have less on their plate.

Now, all they have to worry about are theoretical frameworks and best practices in the areas of:
  • corporate culture
  • business strategy
  • communication
  • teamwork
  • innovation
  • attention management
  • personal effectiveness
  • systems thinking
  • change management
  • developmental psychology
And how to get to the nearest Starbucks.
