At my last job, I started the Laugh a Lot Lunches. Every other month my direct reports and I would invite someone from another department to join us for lunch. Everyone had to bring a joke. The best joke won a free lunch.

One day we invited the boss. He was so impressed with the exercise he offered to pay for everyone's lunch every other month.

I have since left the job to work from home for another company but my old direct reports still call me to meet them for lunch and we do the Laugh A Lot exercise, so I know they were not just doing it because their bossed told them that's what we were doing. They actually enjoyed it!

Hysterical (and sad)! How about having to spell McGillivray your whole life? "That's M C - G I - L L I - V as in victor - R A Y." And then when they manage to write McGillivary I'd have to say, "No, V R as vroom." "Ohhh."

Then I married and took on the name Dixon, which is a British reduction of Dickson (from "son of Dick"). I thought I was simplifying my life, but I've found that I still have to spell the word and repeatedly stress "X and only X" (not X S) otherwise I can't be found "in the system" because Dixon is too simple. It must be Dickson or Dixson or I'm lying to them about my existence. Sheesh!

Actually, I am 3/8 Irish, 3/8 Scottish, 1/8 German, 1/8 Belgian, and 1/2 Canadian. I guess that means that the sum of my parts is greater than me. {:-[

My favorite part of St. Patrick's Day is that the general public associates Irish culture with drinking, and celebrates Irish culture by getting HAMMERED! Because, you know, that's what we Irish do all the time, we get frickin' HAMMERED!

Oh so true! I switched to a flexible schedule to accomodate my child's special needs and at raise time, I was passed over in spite of having received the highest honor available to exempt team members that year. After 6 months and involving Human Resources, I was finally told that when looking at who would receive increases, I had recieved adequate compensation in their opinion because I worked short hours. Forget the fact that I often started my days here at 4a.m. and came back between 8pm and midnight - I had left at 2 pm each day and they weren't here to see my face at the odd hours so it didn't count! And my child did often sleep here - guess I'll move her into the boss's office next time and be sure to leave food wrappers and dirty laundry behind along with the drawings she often makes for him!

We have received an anonymous tip about the legal mumbo-jumbo of the mergers/joint-ventures of Coors:

That's hilarious!!

FYI..... it's a JOINT VENTURE with Miller, hence MillerCoors and legal says no hyphen.

It was a MERGER with Molson : ) Molson Coors is global and MillerCoors is US biz only. Clear as mud, right?

So there you have it...another layer of comedy in change!
